Two artists will feature a new series of works in “Primary” from Tuesday, April 30 to June 1, 2019 at the Artists’ Cooperative Gallery, 405 S. 11th St. in Omaha’s Old Market. May featured Artists Jasmine Greenwaldt and Alexander Vos will host a First Friday opening reception 6 p.m. – 9 p.m., May 3, 2019.
Painter Jasmine Greenwaldt has a new series of works she will be featuring. “Within my work, I combine a mixture of gentleness and serenity with a contrast of harshness and activity. I do this by playing with color, light and form. I welcome the unexpected, not only in my art but in my life as well. Taking risks and trying new things is something I always strive to do. To me, the process of creation and exploration has just as much importance as the finished product itself.”
Painter Alexander Vos will show new work. “Art has always been a passion of mine and throughout my travels I have enjoyed visiting local galleries. It has allowed me to appreciate various art forms to develop my own individual style. Abstract art has always been the most intriguing to me and is reflected in my paintings. When creating a painting, I have a vision of its significance and focus on the flow, balance, color, and texture. The creative, freeform nature of my art makes each piece unique.”
The Artists’ Co-op has been showing the work of respected regional artists for 40 years. This cooperative group of artists conducts educational and cultural outreach activities, and it maintains and staffs a gallery that features works in a wide variety of media, including sculpture, weaving, painting, pottery, photography, printmaking, glass, jewelry and drawing. Monthly opening receptions provide opportunities to meet member artists and learn more about their work.
