Opening Reception for "Three P's" Exhibition.

Artists Jenna Johnson, David Loyd and George Skuodas feature a new series of works in “The Three P’s: Pigment, Patina, Prints” from Tuesday, July 30 to September 1st, 2019 at the Artists’ Cooperative Gallery, 405 S. 11th St. in Omaha’s Old Market. August featured Artists will host a First Friday opening reception 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. on Friday, August 2nd, 2019.

Painter Jenna Johnson uses a multitude of materials to create her works including acrylic paint and found materials. Creating work based on those who directly impact her life, she believes that being twenty-five while living and working in Omaha holds a responsibility; to be curious.

George Skuodas is an artist who has used various forms of two-dimensional art medium such as, line drawing, cartoons, and paintings. He is now focused on creating three-dimensional metal sculptures. What makes them different is that they are made from re-purposed metal materials. Generally speaking, he uses an object for a purpose other than its original intended use. When selecting an object, the premise followed is not what the object or combination of objects are, but what they can become. Welding is the means for joining heavier metals. As George puts it, welding is sewing with fire!

Photographer David Loyd feels that time pushes him reluctantly to escape and create. David seeks the hidden and discarded to capture their surface, color, shape and spirits is what he looks for and sometimes finds. As a long time photographer, working with big prints is a treat. For this show David picked some of his favorite images and made them large. After years of scrutinizing film and computer screens he’s decided now is good time to blow stuff up.
